Zach's Matrix Page
The Matrix Movies kick butt. The release of The Matrix in theatres marked the begining of a revolution in movie making. They did things in a way that had never been done before with an entirely different style. They set a standard that other action movies are set by. They're are the most imitated action movie of the new millenium. Not since Star Wars has any Sci-Fi movie had as much influence in how we rate a good movie. Most all fight scenes in action movies have borrowed camera and special effects ideas from The Matrix. In this sense the matrix can be seen as a true classic, because it was original, influential, and way awesome.
The Matrix Trilogy aside from being entertaining, is also a extremely deep series. I don't understand all the philosophy applied in the making of the movie, but I do know the Wachowski brothers did thier homework. As a result the Matrix Trilogy can't be viewed simply as a novel action flick. Its a epic saga with deeply rooted symbolism and deep meaning beyond the obviuos.
I think the reason some people don't like the Matrix movies is because they don't understand them. When you watch the Matrix you may listen to the strange dialogue and assume that the creators of this movie were simply overdramatic, and just squeezed in a sloppy script to take up time between fight scenes, but in actuality the words are highly symbolic and important to understanding the movie and its thought provoking messages.
I've assembled some links that show some peoles ideas on what that dialogue is trying to get at. These are good for the person who liked The Matrix for the fight scenes and would like to learn more, and the all out fan of The Matrix and its titilating messages.
